A question for Rupert Murdoch: Is the future of newspapers the same as the future of the journalist? Which journalist would you pay for / respect most and why?

As newspaper owners like Rupert Murdoch bemoan the state of the newspaper industry, I have always believed that the future of journalists is different from the future of newspapers

So, my question is: Which journalist would you pay for / respect most and why?

Note the question is not which NEWSPAPER do you pay for – but rather which JOURNALIST do you pay for.

It’s a bit like the restaurant industry .. you pay for the ‘Chef’ – who in the best restaurants has a brand of his/her own. The Chef may go elsewhere and get paid. So, I am saying – if top journalists worldwide created a system (call it a subscribe only club) – then we all benefit.

Thus, the future of the newspapers may not be the same as the future of the journalist(which may be brighter than the future of the newspaper)

I would commercially subscribe to people like Nick DaviesPaul Krugman – and Christiana Amanpour

what about you?
